About
My name is Jenn
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology. I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (C.C.C.), license #10008912.

I spent more than 12 years teaching in elementary schools before becoming a high school guidance counsellor for just over one year. For the past five years, I have spent time working as a counsellor in private practice and the last two and a half years also counselling in post-secondary settings.

I believe in a strengths-based approach, drawing on different therapeutic approaches to meet each person’s unique needs. My goal is to offer support, direction, and genuine validation as you discover and build your own inner strengths. Together, we will create goals that matter to you and explore tools that can help you grow in self-awareness, confidence, and resilience.

I specialize in working with children and adults who are struggling with anxiousness and would like to be more in control of their lives, rather than have their anxiousness control them.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do I know if counselling is right for me?
You do not need to be in a crisis to benefit from counselling. If you are feeling stuck, or anxious, or stressed and you would like to make changes in your life, counselling can help. If you are currently feeling motivated to make changes, this would be a good time to reach out.
2. What can I expect in the first session (intake session)?
The first session is longer than follow up sessions. We get to know each other, and I get all the background information I need to make an informed decision about your treatment plan. This is also where you identify your goals for counselling and what we will be working towards. By the end of your intake session, you will have a clear idea of what to expect in the follow up sessions.
3. How long does therapy usually take?
This varies from client to client. It depends on your goals and history, as well as your commitment to counselling. The clients that work on things in session and outside of session, usually see more benefit from counselling. You learn new skills and perspectives in session, and then if you apply that to your everyday life, that is when bigger changes start to happen!
4. How do I find the right therapist?
It is about feeling comfortable and feeling like you have a connection to your counsellor. Usually, I recommend that prospective clients read counsellor’s biographies online and see if anyone stands out. You should feel safe asking questions and sharing feedback in sessions. The first few sessions are typically about seeing if the counselling approach aligns with your needs.
